The MET Gala is the one stage that you will see a lot of glamour. Old Hollywood waves have been coined as being the red-carpet's go-to hairstyle for some of our favourite stars from the 70s, 80s, 90s, y2k and beyond — from Marylin Monroe and Dita Von Teese, these stars have not missed a beat.
It's always true in hair and beauty that everything comes back around. From hair colours to cuts and everything in-between, so many modern and trending hairstyles have taken inspiration from old Hollywood retro looks.
Billie Eilish

Icons such as Elizabeth Taylor, Mia Farrow and Audrey Hepburn have all inspired decades of hairstyles, including pixie crops and gentle waves.
Megan Fox
We've never seen the actor's hair quite like this before.
Then come the MET Gala, the most fashionable and glamourous night of the year we have been fiening over for the last two years. Since we had to miss out on it last year because of the pandemic.

However, boy was it worth the wait. These modern-day A-listers are famous for their lust-worthy locks, and some have bought them back especially for us to bear witness at the iconic MET Gala beige carpet. The girls really brought Hollywood in the streets of the Upper East Side and we are not mad at them.
For some major inspo on some of our favourite New Hollywood wave moments from this MET Gala and other red carpet moments you will be obcessing over from her on out… if you keep scrolling, your eyes won't regret it.

Serena went for a caramel soft 3-wave moment and we understand why. Olympia's momma said: GLAMOURRR.
Blake had serious A-list appeal working tumbling waves with plenty of volume to give a very modern twist to this old-school look.
Also loving this style, Cara gave a fashion-forward take, wearing her locks sleek on top with just the ends tonged into soft waves.
Throwback to Lily mixing up her usual lengths with a feminine vintage 'do. Namely, soft face-framing styles like this.
We like this retro-inspired short bob Arizona wore with a matte red lip. The arched brows really pull everything together and we are loving the whole thing.
Jessica’s slick updo just screams sophistication. The glowing skin and deep pink lipstick are the perfect finishing touches.
With her bold lip and cheeks contoured to the gawds, ScarJo’s is giving us classic beauty. She sets her look off perfectly with retro waves.
Sleek across the scalp and tight finger waves, Emmy's look is giving us pure glamour.
Short hair pin-up Evan gave her jaw-grazing locks vintage appeal.

Taylor oozed old Hollywood glamour with this elaborate pin-curled hairstyle worn with heavily mascaraed lashes and lips painted an alluring shade of Bourdeaux.
As Jessica well knows – BIG, bouncy curls and a matte red lip hue are the beauty power combo.
The smouldering Sienna Miller would look good with a shaved head (not that we’re recommending it), but this soft, wavy style is one of our favourites.
