Last month, Kristen Stewart shut down the 78th Venice International Film Festival with a bold new hair look: strawberry blonde locks parted to the side and styled in a loose chignon. The result was soft and feminine – a marked departure from her edgier past styles, which have ranged from dark and brooding to neon-hued and occasionally surreal.
Leaning into this newfound femininity, but with a riot grrrl twist, the actor once again teamed up with hairstylist Adir Abergel to create this season’s must-have look: a ’90s meets Y2K-inspired spiky bun, which the Spencer actor modelled in Paris to take in the Chanel spring/summer 2022 show.
Made popular the second time around by the Y2K poster girls like Bella Hadid and Ariana Grande, the spiky bun starts off as a chic up-do but peters out into punkish pin-point ends. Teamed with a Pepto Bismol-pink Chanel tweed skirt suit, equally nostalgic pink frosted lids, which were heavily rimmed with kohl, and a matte white manicure, it added an air of quiet rebellion to an otherwise girlish look.
