The 'Lop' Haircut Is Shorter Than A Bob, But Longer Than A Crop – GLAMOUR UK

There's something in the air. Is it fatigue? Is it rebellion? But when Florence Pugh posted a pic of her majorly chopped hair to Instagram, with the casual caption “I did a thing.. ✂️” we could not have fan-girled on her any harder.
It's not just us. The comments section (there were over 20,000 of them) was bursting with messages ranging from “You did it Mama!!” to “Hooooooooooooot”.  Even her celeb pals were swooning. Ariana Grande posted “I am crying. Stunning.” Actress Eiza Gonzalez wrote “It's a huge yes for me,” and fellow short hair convert, Arlo Parks posted saying “YES YES YES.”

What is it with short haircuts that fire us up so much? We love how bold, brazen and liberating they are, but… are they wearable? Two top hairstylists who, like Arlo, are firmly in team YES are London salon owners Nick Latham and Sean Paul Nother at The Hair Bros.

“Could short hair be the next big trend?," they asked their followers alongside some delicious inspo pics. Specifically they've identified the next trending sweet spot if you want to try something a little more daring – “shorter than a bob, longer than a crop," they say. “Food for thought.” We're dubbing it a “lop” or long-crop and we're low-key obsessed.
But, some fair points were made in the comments. “I remember when I was 12 going to my local hairdresser and asking for this sort of thing – like Natalie Imbruglia circa Torn. But I came out with a little boy’s haircut that took two years to grown out,” one follower said. Though she conceded this cut, if executed correctly, is “the dream.” Another shared a similar experience, but thanked age and experience for gaining confidence “and having whatever the F hair I feel like having.” Well said.
Point is, we keep seeing “the lop” cropping up and dishing up DGAF vibes on the ‘gram. And, alongside “mixies” (mullet pixies), the French bob and straight-up pixies; cute, spiky cuts are having a major moment. Interested? We have all the inspo below…
